How quotes are built

The factors that shape your quote.

Pricing depends on the realities of getting expert care to your door.

Travel

Distance from base, traffic considerations, and parking. Outer boroughs and surrounding NYC have a clear, fair travel zone.

Time

Duration of the visit, complexity, and any pre-visit prep or post-visit documentation involved.

Species & temperament

Some animals need a slower pace. Some species need specialized handling. We never rush — and we price honestly for what care actually requires.

What you actually need

A quick hands-on visit, a long guidance consult, a drop-in feeding, or an exotic specialty session — each is priced honestly relative to scope and depth.

Scheduling

Weekend, holiday, and same-week scheduling may carry a modest surcharge that reflects our availability around full-time hospital shifts.

Special requests

Bundle visits, multi-pet households, or specific resources you'd like prepared for you in advance.

Honest range

What most visits actually cost.

One simple range that covers everything XVC offers — hands-on visits and consults alike. Your final quote will reflect your animal, your address, your situation, and what's actually needed.

Typical range — per visit

Most XVC visits

$75 – $500+

A short single-task visit sits near the low end. A long, complex engagement — multi-medication elderly cat, exotic specialty consult, after-hours drop-in for a sick or aggressive pet — sits at or above the high end. Most visits fall comfortably in the middle.

Low end (~$75–$150)

Short, single-task visits — nail trims, ear cleaning, a quick sub-Q fluids session, a brief medication coaching.

Middle (~$150–$300)

Most XVC visits live here — 45–75 minutes of focused work: new-pet consults, senior wellness check-ins, post-op support, behavior triage, nutrition coaching.

High end ($300–$500+)

Longer, more complex engagements — exotic consults, pre-hospitalization coaching, multi-medication regimens, drop-in feedings or enrichment visits for owners away, anxious / senior / sick pets needing extended patience, after-hours or holiday scheduling, multi-part packages.

About drop-ins and "more advanced" care. XVC also takes drop-in visits for owners traveling — feeding, medication administration, cleaning, walks, enrichment. This is not a sitting service; it's available specifically because some animals need someone with patience, compassion, and clinical understanding (anxious or aggressive pets, seniors on multiple medications, animals with chronic conditions). Those visits land at the higher end of the range, scaled to length, complexity, and what the animal actually requires. Always inquire — Xavier reads every booking personally.

Sliding-scale considerations may apply for hospice, end-of-life, and certain community-care situations. Please ask — Xavier reads every booking personally and will work with you on what's possible.
